Sound Clips & Videos

We are a Klezmer band, but we are much more than just that. We are known for our Klezmer, including Freylakhs, Sirbas, Jocs, Shers, Hussidls, Terkishes and more. We also play Israeli and Russian music. Our American repertoire includes Jazz, Swing, Rock & Roll, Latin, Waltzes, Cha chas, Salsas, Rhumbas, Merengues and the like. In fact, we challenge you to compare our performances of these other styles with the Klezmer that has made us so well-known.

Our music is very diverse. Because of this flexibility, in addition to performing the music we are best known for, we are very often in demand to play events where diversity is sought. In fact, sometimes we will learn new repertoire simply in order to satisfy requests. We enjoy this.

If you are looking for just Klezmer or Israeli, that's fine. However, if you have an interest in the band for a broader spectrum of music beyond the Klezmer, Jazz and the repertoire listed below, we’d be happy to discuss this with you. We love the challenge.

Our suggestion is for you to listen to the many clips, noting the singer and the music style. Let us know what you like. We are known for feeling the room and making the party happen. However, we listen to you first. With your input, based on your interests, your taste and what you think your guests will want to hear, we cater the music performed to fit the occasion. This way, everybody in the room gets involved on the dance floor.

Bearing all of this in mind, with a backbone in Klezmer, Jazz and classical performance, our sound is centered on four musical styles; Klezmer, Israeli, Rock and Jazz. See the sound samples below for a taste of what we have to offer.

We are a very dynamic, flexible band.
Listen to many music samples.

Please note that some of these clips are large and may take
up to a minute to play once you click on them.

In order to conserve bandwidth and lessen the buffer time needed to enjoy them, the following sound clips are being presented at 25% of the sound quality as they are on our CDs. If you wish to hear higher quality clips please contact us.

  • Israeli - for everyone interested in traditional music and dancing (hora, etc.)

We are known for making the party! We are also known for playing hora sets...getting people up and dancing for 45 plus minutes at a time, and people have pleaded with us for a while to post samples of this. So finally, we have responded.

The following clip is what we would likely play either at a party, a wedding, or a concert if we wanted to get everybody onto the dance floor. It is a rare recording of the band from an actual event in 2008 playing a complete Israeli hora.

We found some damage (bass hum) at the very beginning, so we were forced to remove a segment there. However, this is otherwise unedited. This clip is almost 20 minutes in length. It was posted in a lower fidelity in order to allow for a smaller file size. However, it still may take a minute or two to load.

  • Traditional Klezmer Clips - for everyone interested in traditional music and dancing (hora, etc.)
  • Rock & Roll - for all ages, but especially for the younger crowd

Listen to both the studio and live clips selections below. If you are looking for more Rock & Roll in the mix, we suggest you check out www.nexusrockband.com. And if you want, the two bands can merge together to give you a really awesome, diversified show that would include a mix of both klezmer and rock. Ask us about it!

  • For parties, weddings or other Simchas, we play our "hora or party style."

Like our Rock & Roll, our "jazz style" is part of the mix,
depending on the client's preferences.

Orange Blossom Special
click to hear clip

The above clip is from our sister band, The New Klezmer Quintet. We thought you might enjoy this. There is an interesting story behind it:

The following was an accident. We were recording other things in the studio in late July (this year), when, during a moment of pause, our violinist starting fooling around (as we all do in the studio) with this tune, the Orange Blossom Special, a very well-known Bluegrass tune. Next thing you knew, everyone else kicked in and started playing. Little did we know the recorder was rolling. So, we had this thing on tape.

Now, this is a Bluegrass tune, not a Klezmer tune, and certainly not a Jazz or a Rock tune, so it had nothing to do with the types of music we play, and we really did not know what to do with it. We were thinking of filing it away in scrap land. But, it leaked out. People were blown away by it, and many of them asked us to release it. We are still not sure what we are going to do with it, but decided to acknowledge the fans and post it on the site, just for kicks. I guess it shows our diversity.

The inside joke is that the band is calling it "Jewgrass!" Listen for yourself. Enjoy. This is completely unedited. Note that Fred on Clarinet is not present in this, as he was out in the other room getting his sugar with coffee.
